WAHM – From Surviving to Thriving

September 21, 2016 by playdreamgrow Leave a Comment

This post is a little different because I’m usually trying to write a few paragraphs to encourage you.  Today, I have a whole e-book full of encouragement and hope for my fellow work-at-home moms (WAHM).   It’s something I had worked on a couple of years ago and this year, I decided to dust it off and completely update it.  And the best part is – it’s FREE!  Continue Reading

My Journey to Being a Work-at-Home, Homeschooling Mom (part 3)

August 26, 2015 by playdreamgrow 2 Comments

Today I wanted to share a little bit more of my heart for the blog and why I don’t follow the experts’ advice when it comes to what I write here.  This little space of the internet is the last piece of the puzzle (for now) of the “What do you do?” question.  If you missed the first 2 posts where I explain my Amazon selling business or how I am able to continue homeschooling, you can find those posts here and here.   When you run your own business and also have a website/blog, the experts almost always (always?) tell you that they should be related – You should be blogging about your business or what you do.  Here’s why I don’t…  Continue Reading

My Journey to Being a Work-at-Home, Homeschooling Mom (part 2)

If you missed the first part where I talk about the life situations that led me to start selling on Amazon, you can read that here.  I got several questions asking for clarification on what it is I actually do on Amazon so I thought I’d start with that.  I also want to share with you how my homeschool has changed with my different jobs to encourage those of you who are combining working from home and homeschooling.  I’m pretty wordy usually, so that will probably take up all my words; if not, I’ll also tell you why my blog is not centered around my business (which goes against everything the experts tell you to do) and why I’m ok with that.  If I run out of words, we’ll talk about that next week.  Continue Reading

My Journey to Being a Work-at-Home, Homeschooling Mom

When people find out that I’m a single mom, homeschooling my kids, and working full time from home running my own business, I usually get a lot of questions.  They want to know what I do, how I do it, how I organize myself, etc.  Just this week I was talking with someone and she said, “I talk to people all the time who do fascinating things for a living.  You’re the first person I’ve ever talked to who is making a living selling online.”  I am part of so many selling groups I forget that what I do is still a relatively foreign concept to most people.   I hope sharing my story encourages you that there is so much opportunity to make the life you want.  Take off those limits you’ve placed on yourself (or that others have placed on you) – You can do it!  Continue Reading

5 Myths I Believed About Working from Home

February 19, 2015 by playdreamgrow Leave a Comment

Working from home is really my dream job.  That said, there are a few things I really believed would happen because, after all, I’m home all day and can set my own schedule for the most part.  As I found myself wading through a crowd of people, shopping carts, and electric scooters the other Saturday to find nourishment for the short people around here (see Myth #5), I realized something, some of those things I believed were myths.Continue Reading
