Welcome to My Site!

This world can be a knock-down, drag-out place; a place that takes way more than it gives. My hope is that this little corner of the web is somewhere you can come for a few minutes, and when you’re done visiting, go away feeling like you’ve been given encouragement and tips to take on the challenges you face. Thanks so much for joining me here!

WAHM – From Surviving to Thriving

September 21, 2016 by playdreamgrow Leave a Comment

This post is a little different because I’m usually trying to write a few paragraphs to encourage you.  Today, I have a whole e-book full of encouragement and hope for my fellow work-at-home moms (WAHM).   It’s something I had worked on a couple of years ago and this year, I decided to dust it off and completely update it.  And the best part is – it’s FREE!  Continue Reading

The End of 2016

December 31, 2016 by playdreamgrow Leave a Comment

I always look forward to a new year, but I’m pretty sure I’ve never needed one as much as I do this year.  2016 was a spectacularly horrible year overall.  Yes, there were some bright spots, but they were definitely overshadowed by the hard stuff.  And from what I’m reading on my Facebook page, it seems that many of my friends feel the same way.  So, I thought I’d dust off the old blog and encourage us all 🙂

Standing in the Face of Tragedy

May 13, 2016 by playdreamgrow 1 Comment

If you have been around the church very long, you’ve probably heard the scripture Ephesians 6:12-14, which says in part “…and having done all to stand. Stand therefore…”  I once heard a pastor say that in the original text there was no period after stand, so it really reads more like “once you’ve done all to stand, keep standing“.  That scripture ran through my mind a lot over the 3 months since my last post.  And I came to realize that sometimes standing doesn’t look so much like standing.  Sometimes, standing is more about getting back up again after you’ve been knocked flat, than it is about never falling down.  And here I am today… Continue Reading

This is not the end…It’s the beginning

Those simple words that I heard yesterday went deep into my soul.  They spoke to me on so many levels of life right now.  Do you ever feel like you should be much further along in life than you are?  Like if you’re in your late 20’s, you should be settled on your career path already.  Or if you’re single and in your 30’s, you should be married with kids by now.  If you’re in your 40’s, you should be established in your home, career, and family with a growing retirement account and a sense of security in who you are.  If you aren’t meeting those “milestones”, it can be easy to feel like it won’t ever happen, or that your dreams are moving farther and farther away from you.  This is especially true if you find yourself in the process of starting over in any area of your life.

When Your Story Isn’t Pretty…

November 19, 2015 by playdreamgrow 1 Comment

All of us have a story.  Sometimes, the only part of someone’s story that we see is the pretty part.  That part where they are successful, happy, healed, and whole.  We see the business owner who is making good money, vacationing and living the life they want; but we didn’t see the years of struggle or the 80 hour work weeks during the building phase.  We see the author who breaks through and has a best seller; but we didn’t see the days when the words wouldn’t come, the rejection letters, the pages tossed in the trash.  We see the happy mama with her kiddos all smiling and obedient; but we didn’t see the tears she shed at night or the hours spent on her knees in prayer.  Continue Reading

I'm Beth, a homeschooling WAHM who likes to dream big. I love to read, write, and learn new things. I hate to clean the house (although I love to see it cleaned up, which is not that often with kids). I'm not perfect and I love that God knows all about me and my flaws and still has great things for me to do. I hope to inspire you to follow your dreams and embrace your perfectly imperfect life.
